green day, you'll never age. (Monday, February 20, 2012)
Billie's birthday was on 17th Feb, and haha I just wanna share about how I grew up with Green Day. (briefly).
I fell in love with them in P3 I think, with the classic Wake Me Up When September Ends. Those were the days when it was endlessly on replay mode. Then, I had my first 32Gb iPod cos I was just so addicted to listening to them, haha, listening to them was literally immersing oneself entirely in another world. (btw the song actually was a reflection of his pain, because he lost his father in the war. shared about this before!)
Listen to this song, and be prepared to be awed by Billie's vocals.
I bought the first music album that I ever owned shortly after - American Idiot! Personally love the songs, Are We The Waiting, American Idiot, Give Me Novacaine, Whatsername, Wake Me Up, and actually all of their songs are just so so so unique and emotive. Plus Billie has the most unique voice, (imo, the best) on earth, so Green Day just became the best best best best most most most most favourite band in my life :')
There is a purpose, significance and message behind each and every song/album.
Life caught up (PSLE, secondary life etc.), and shortly, all kinds of music, indie boy bands like ARTTM, TC5, The Maine... And sometimes I wouldn't listen to them like for quite some time haha. Until 21st Century Breakdown came along in May 15, 2009!!! Pre-ordered the album, was hyped to see their advert on TV, and the new album poster was up on my wall shortly :D
Then came their world tour in 2010. MY FIRST EVER ROCK CONCERT. Begged my parents to let me go as it was something I'll never ever miss in my life. Finally, the chance to hear them live, to see them live, to sing with them live. Haha I really couldn't believe it there and then. Before I know it, I skipped French lesson, headed out to the stadium on Thursday night, queued for an hour or so, and I had the time of my life. Photos, videos of the concert, banners, skull-printed confetti. It was a dream, despite the rowdiness of the tall, mighty caucasians and dspite me being pushed to the back. It was a dream come true!!!
Haha yeah so that's pretty much about it. Just wanna say that you will never age, Billie Joe Armstrong. The songs you wrote, the legendary band that shook my heart, I love you and always will!
